Awards Ceremony (Still I Rise/Women at the Well) Featuring Jamal Roberts in East New York, Brooklyn

This was four hours of coverage for the Friday awards ceremony of the Still I Rise Conference at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn. The event honored accomplished Black women in medicine and healthcare through a series of award presentations, keynote speakers, and faith-centered programming, ending with a performance by Jamal Roberts.

Because of the scale of the production, there were strict limitations on where photographers could stand and when movement was allowed. Events like this require a different skill set than a typical conference or gala. You have to anticipate moments, work within the rules, and still come away with strong images. If you're producing a high-profile event with speakers, honorees, performers, and a packed schedule, experience matters. There are no retakes, and the ability to deliver under pressure is exactly what I provide.
