Further Music School Childrens Recitals at Queens College (Kew Gardens)

This was a six-hour recital at Queens College featuring elementary-age students from Further Music School. Throughout the day, students took the stage to perform for family, friends, and teachers, showcasing the work they had put in over the course of the year. Some performers were clearly veterans of the stage, while others were experiencing a formal recital environment for the first time.

My coverage was focused entirely on the performances themselves. No backstage access, no audience coverage, just the students on stage. That means paying close attention to timing, expressions, and posture. Stage lighting is rarely designed with photography in mind, and every student performs differently, so the challenge is creating strong, consistent images regardless of the instrument, lighting conditions, or where they appear in the program.

If you're organizing a recital, student showcase, music competition, or school performance, having professional images gives families and the organization something lasting long after the final note is played. These events only happen once, and there are no retakes.
