Two Cats, One Couple: At-Home Pet Shoot on the Upper East Side, Manhattan
There were technically four clients at this photoshoot, although only two of them understood what was going on.
This session took place in a beautiful Upper East Side apartment with a young couple and their two cats, Mochi and Lychee. The goal was simple: create a set of portraits that felt personal, relaxed, and representative of their life together. That meant not only photographing the couple as a pair, but also giving each cat its own moment in the spotlight, along with individual portraits of each person with their favorite furry companion.
One of the things I enjoy about in-home sessions is that there's no need to invent a story or force an aesthetic that doesn't exist. The things people care about most are usually already there. In this case, that meant two very photogenic cats who were more than happy to insert themselves into nearly every setup. The result was a gallery that felt playful, authentic, and much more personal than something shot in a studio.
If you're looking for couples photography in NYC, don't feel like you need a special occasion to justify it. Some of my favorite sessions have simply been people documenting a chapter of their lives exactly as it is, pets included.

All images in this blog post were shot on a Nikon D850 using a variety of lenses, and all individually post-processed in Adobe Lightroom using custom-built presets.
