Jewish Baby Bris Ceremony on the Upper East Side, Manhattan
I don’t photograph brises very often, as most Jewish families understandably prefer to have a Jewish photographer document the occasion, but sometimes this isn’t always possible. So when I am hired for one, I know I’ve been trusted with something deeply personal. This particular bris took place at the Ramaz School on the Upper East Side, with two hours of coverage and a room full of family and friends celebrating the newest member of the family.
With an event like this, there’s no opportunity to go back and recreate anything you missed; there are no do-overs, and the important little moments only happen once. That’s where professional event photography is worth paying for: not just having someone with a camera, but having someone who knows where to be, what to watch for, and how to document the day without making themselves part of it.
