Ginger Ristorante Menu Photography For Doordash/Ocus in Midtown, Manhattan
Normally these monthly roundups feature my five favorite shoots from that month, however I'm taking a break from shooting to recover from surgery for about 2 months, so I figured this time would be the perfect excuse to dig back through the archives from this year, and finally share some assignments that deserved a post at the time but never got one. And also maybe injecting an editorial opinion or two since I’m more or less stuck in bed for the time being. All that being said…here is the next one :)
I’ve photographed quite a few restaurants for DoorDash through OCUS, and this assignment at Ginger Ristorante in Midtown was a particularly enjoyable one because everything was so well organized. This sounds like a very low bar, but restaurant shoots can vary quite a bit depending on how prepared everyone is when I arrive. Ginger, however, had everything ready to go, the space was gorgeous, the food was beautifully presented, and I had plenty of support throughout the shoot. Those little things make a huge difference because they allow me to focus on the actual photography rather than the logistics. After doing as many restaurant shoots as I have (over 800!), I have developed a real appreciation for the places where everyone is on the same page from the start: it makes for better photographs, and it makes the whole process much more enjoyable for everyone involved.
Here are some of my favorite images from this shoot (click/tap to view full size and un-cropped):
